This past Friday, Boston’s own Masspike Pike Miles celebrated his official signing to The Boss Rick Ross’ Maybach Music label. The JAMN 94.5 sponsored event went down at Showcase Live in the Patriot Place plaza (the counterpart to Gillette Stadium). Miles brought his own team, the Rushin Embassy, his co-d Smoke Bulga and the fat man himself, Ross.

Congrats to Miles for a well deserved reward for his grind that first started in 1988 when he joined the then super star record producer (New Edition, New Kids) Marice Starr’s young r&b group Perfect Gentlemen.

A few weeks ago I was blessed with the chance to finally see the incredibly talented and beautiful Alicia Keys at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. It was what it was supposed to be: AMAZING. Ever been to a show where your favorite talent sounds less like the CD you deem your favorite and more like the American Idol auditions? Not the case. Her piano playing and voice are just as powerful live as they are studio recorded.
