FOR THE PEOPLE: HELP SAVE HAITI EVENT

SaveHaiti_flyer

Most of us live in a world where a really bad day consists of morning commute traffic, a slow line at Starbucks or being the 25th in line at a 24 pair sneaker release. We, including me, sometimes take for granted the blessing we are allotted on a daily basis.

Regardless of the location, the horrible tragedy that has taken place in Haiti should open our eyes to real pain and hardship. Many of our friends and colleagues have yet to locate their family members who were affected by the natural disaster. My family in Puerto Rico is but a few hundred miles from where the earthquake hit. I could have easily been someone trying to locate my grandmother— the thought is surreal and makes me very sad and uncomfortable.

At Concepts I have friends I work with directly affected by the tragedy so this has hit home. Another friend of mine, Brek. One – who is Concepts family, is also Haitian. We have decided to work together to do our part with the resources we have. I have reached out to friends in my industry to donate some cool product for our event. We will raffle off most of the product with some pricier rare stuff auctioned off.

This is all going down this Sunday night at the Goodlife in Boston (location details on flyer).

Please join us to bring awareness and raise cash funds for OUR people of Haiti. I want to emphasize the RAISE MONEY part. Buy as many raffle tickets you can and donate as much as possible at the door. It is for a great cause and everything counts.

Brek. One, The Bladerunners and Devlin will be providing the entertainment.

Special Collaboration with Good Wood NYC: Limited edition “Help Save Haiti” pieces to be sold at event.
Special Collaboration with Quinton: Limited edition “Help Save Haiti” snap back cap to be sold at event.

Concepts x New Balance Release Party

With the upcoming highly anticipated release of the Concepts x New Balance “Freedom Trail” pack collaboration, we decided to throw a little pre-release party at Club Sanctuary in Boston. The turn out was amazing and the legendary Bounce Master Dj Doo Wop and Boston’s own Brek. One tore the spot down. Big shouts the New Balance team for holding us down, Paulina @ Sanctuary, Frankie, Brand Nation, Brek. One and Doo Wop (BSA 2010!) for the great night.

Remember: The Freedom Trail pack will be available 11/27 (Black Friday)

Jay Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour | Providence

Jay Z, Wale, Nerd and J.Cole had a stop on the Blueprint 3 tour in Providence on Saturday. Great show and great seats thanks to my man Wale (and thanks for the shout during your show!).

Do you know what happens at a Hov show? Hits after hits after hits… a break… then more hits…!

New Balance / 686 @ Concepts

Pete with number 22 and 96 on the official “What White People Like” list.  Ok…22 is “microbreweries” but the list maker needs to research how white people react to PBR… incredible. New Balance should definitely be higher on the list too. Just my own observations….

Fresh had to put the “swoosh” away for the event. Wasn’t too happy about it either

Los Angeles Chronicles Part 3

I almost forgot that I went to Los Angeles for a reason.

Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles!!

Well that and the Adidas / David Beckham party. So after I indulged in what seemed to be the oddest combination of foods (fantastic by the way), it was time to head out to the event. And yes I put syrup on my chicken.

The party was what I imagined a Los Angeles party to be… celeb city. Quincy Jones and his daughters, Snoop Dogg, Ben Stiller, Anthony Michael Hall (16 Candles? Ask Deon), Mister Cartoon, Ciara, and Eva Longoria were a few of the notables that were there to support David Beckham. Dj Muggs and a trumpet player provided the music and there was paparazzi outside the club in trees, under cars and in disguise. Big shouts to Lucci and James Bond for taking care of us.

With Deon and Uncle Lucci. I think Lucci is the closest thing I ever had to an uncle. He’s an O.G., design genius, and has infinite insight. Thanks for the love Greg!

I lost Deon in the crowd and when I realized it I headed to the bar to find him. The bar is like the customer service counter at Caldors. When you loose someone you automatically head there in hopes of reuniting.  I didn’t mean to interupt his conversation with Eva Longoria. Sorry.

After the Adidas event we rolled to a spot where Romanelli was hosting an art show. First thing out of his mouth was “where’s Fresh?”

Los Angeles Chronicles Part 1

Let me start by saying that sometimes I am not the best at avoiding stress. I take on a lot and in the process of trying to complete it all, I go into that unpleasant “mode” that I don’t like. Haven’t had a real vacation in a while (or ever) but have had days here and there during business trips that I sometimes find glimpses of peace.

I was invited to the Adidas event in Los Angeles launching the line designed by James Bond and Greg Lucci for David Beckham (yeah… that David Beckham). At first I didn’t think I could pull it together in time but I did and even convinced Deone’ Pointe’ to come along. Chris and Billy, my guys from Pilot, lined up a trip to LA to meet with clients so we coordinated our schedules so we could hang.

First thing off the plane Chris wanted us to head out to Hermosa Beach to go to this little Mexican spot for some food that was a little more authentic than the Boarder Cafe in Harvard Sq. A gang of fish tacos later… I agreed.

Hermosa was fucking heaven. I was truly taken back by the beach, the sky, the board walk, the water, the view, the weather, the houses and the atmosphere, that I instantly began planning my move from Mass. I haven’t felt that peaceful in a while. Didn’t feel any work stress, just felt tranquility.

I put a lot of things in perspective that day which will develop into decisions then into actions in the near future. So stay tuned.
