The trailer for Ben Affleck’s second film as a director, The Town, just hit the web. I had the privilege of working on, and helping to cast this film. Based on the novel Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan, the film stars stars Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively, Pete Postlethwaite, Chris Cooper, Boston’s own Slaine and many, many other amazing local people. With excitement I introduce the premier of the first official episode of Butcher’s Block TV.

I have started and restarted this project multiple times with the goal of presenting a quality piece that wouldn’t be bound to current events but rather a focus on timeless topics. Something less reliant on what the artist I’m interviewing is working on and more about how they are inspired to work. A presentation of their thoughts and feelings delivered to you unfiltered with no chaser.

I set out to build a platform for inspiring personalities to speak on what they believe in, feel and most importantly try to give the viewer a better understanding of where they are and came from creatively.

I hope you enjoy my first episode.

Curtains is an extremely talented artist who Kanye West dubbed a “fashion genius”. His choice of garb might lead you to believe that his music should sound a certain way but don’t be fooled by his penchant for being dapper. His compositions are as diverse as his taste for fashion. Curtains delivers aggressive and insightful lyrics with a message entangled in wordplay that will have your ear to the speaker trying to catch every curve ball thrown. In this piece Dope Boy discusses how his fashion sensibilities have landed him in a unnecessary rap category and why he doesn’t believe in being labeled.

I’ve been lucky enough over the last several years, to work in the film industry here in Boston. More specifically, I do the casting for many of the films that come to shoot here in the New England area. Rarely am I able to talk about the films that I work on until they are set to come out. But when they do, I like to post things about them. Grown Ups is a movie that I worked on this past summer. Starring Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and a slew of others, the comedy centers around a group of childhood friends brought back together when their high school basketball coach passes away. Check out the trailer above and catch the movie in theaters on June 25th.

This video is very truthful to the demeanor of the people of Skowhegan, Maine. The entire side of my mothers family grew up in Skowhegan, almost all of them held a job when they were young working in a shoe factory. My aunt worked in the New Balance factory for over 15 years. Needles to say, I grew up in New Balance footwear. Of course at the time I didn’t appreciate the fact that I was wearing a shoe completely constructed in the United States, all I wanted to wear was Nike (foolish.) I didn’t understand the time and effort put into the shoes, but I never doubted the quality of the craftsmanship.

Jackie is on my mind.
